About Sanding Sugar
  • Sanding sugar is a coarse crystal-like decorating sugar that adds a subtle sparkle to desserts. Its pastel shades look especially festive on Easter cookies and give the frosting a pretty, slightly glittery finish.

Method

    1. Prepare the sprinklesPour the pastel sanding sugar onto a few small plates so it’s easy to dip the cookies.
    2. Frost the cookiesSpread a generous layer of white icing over the top of each cookie using a butter knife or small spatula.
    3. Add the sparkleGently press the frosted side of the cookie into the sanding sugar so the top becomes fully coated with colorful sprinkles. Place the decorated cookies on parchment paper, a baking sheet, or paper towels to set.
    4. Make a simple piping bagSpoon a little pink frosting into the corner of a zip-top bag. Snip a tiny piece off the corner with kitchen scissors to create an easy DIY piping bag.
    5. Create the bunny feetCut the regular marshmallows in half using the scissors. Pipe small pink pads onto the flat side of each marshmallow half to resemble bunny paws.
    6. Attach the pawsAdd a small dab of frosting to the sticky side of each marshmallow half and place two “feet” near the bottom edge of the cookie.
    7. Add the fluffy tailSpread a tiny bit of pink frosting on the base of a mini marshmallow and press it into the center of the cookie to form the bunny’s tail.
