Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • No need to sift unless you prefer to. Instead lightly stir the flour in its container to loosen it. Spoon it into your measuring cup and level it off gently. Avoid scooping directly or packing it down—too much flour makes the cake heavy and dry.
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Standard white sugar works perfectly here. Alternative sweeteners haven’t been tested so results may vary.
  • Baking Powder
  • Make sure it’s fresh. Expired baking powder can prevent the cake from rising properly.
  • Eggs
  • Room temperature eggs blend more smoothly into the batter and help create a better texture.
  • Milk
  • Let the milk sit out briefly so it’s not ice-cold. This helps everything combine evenly.
  • Salted Butter
  • Since no extra salt is added salted butter balances the sweetness. Soften it for the filling and melt a portion for the batter.
  • Light Brown Sugar
  • When measuring firmly press it into the cup so you get the correct amount.

Method

    1. Prepare the Pan and Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

    2. Mix the Cake Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry and wet cake ingredients—except for the melted butter. Once mixed, slowly pour in the melted butter while stirring. Mix just until incorporated. Don’t overwork the batter, or the cake may turn dense.
Spread the finished batter evenly into the prepared pan.

    3. Make the Cinnamon Swirl

In a separate bowl, stir together softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until smooth and thick.
Drop spoonfuls of this mixture evenly across the cake batter.

    4. Create the Swirl Effect

Use a butter knife to gently drag through the batter and cinnamon mixture. Move the knife in swirling motions to create a marbled look throughout the cake.

    5. Bake

Place the pan in the oven and bake for 35–40 minutes. The cake is done when a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

    6. Prepare the Glaze

While the cake bakes, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.

    7. Finish and Serve

Pour the glaze over the cake while it’s still warm. It will seep into the swirls for extra flavor.
Serve warm or let it cool before slicing for cleaner cuts.
