Ingredients

For the Strawberry Gelatin Layer
  • 6 oz strawberry gelatin powder
  • 2 cups hot boiling water
  • 16 oz strawberries sliced (fresh or frozen, stems removed)
For the Pretzel Crust
  • 2 ½ cups salted pretzels measure before crushing
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
For the Creamy Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping thawed in the fridge

Method

    1. Prepare the Gelatin Mixture

Pour the strawberry gelatin powder into a bowl. Add boiling water and stir well until fully dissolved. Set aside and let it cool down to room temperature.

    2. Make the Pretzel Base

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pretzels in a sealed bag and crush them into small pieces using a rolling pin or similar tool.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat, then mix in the crushed pretzels until evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish and press it firmly into an even layer across the bottom. Bake for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.

    3. Create the Cream Cheese Layer

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar until light and smooth (about 2 minutes). Fold in the whipped topping gently until fully combined.
Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust. Make sure to seal the edges completely to prevent the gelatin from leaking through. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set.

    4. Assemble the Dessert

Arrange the sliced strawberries evenly over the cream layer. Slowly pour the cooled gelatin over the top, making sure it spreads evenly.
Cover the dish and refrigerate for 2–4 hours, or until fully set.

    5. Serve

Cut into squares and serve chilled. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Using store-bought whipped topping helps keep the layers firm and prevents a soggy crust.
  • For easier handling, place your dish on a tray before transferring it to the fridge—this helps avoid spills while the gelatin is still liquid.
